When dealing with potential clients, I often get asked, “Why do I need a website? My business runs just fine without one!”

“…I have a Facebook page! That’s all I need!’

Sound familiar?


Some people who aren’t internet / tech-savvy don’t see the value in having a custom website. Others, fortunately, do. To those who do not, I’m hoping this post will convince you otherwise :). There are a myriad of reasons why your company needs a website. Let’s get to it!

Business Value and Online Perception

This is probably the most important reason why you need a website. Your perceived value as a company drops significantly when people find out that you don’t have a website. Here’s an actual series of events that happened last weekend relating to this matter:

  • I was with some friends and we were hungry so we decided to grab some sushi
  • My friend wanted to know how much the buffet was
  • He Googles the company name – no website. He says, “okay they don’t even have a site, let’s go somewhere else”
  • Googles “best sushi places”, finds another restaurant, and we go there

My friend quickly devalued this company in a blink of an eye because he couldn’t find their menu item prices, which would be listed on their website – because they had no website. Even worse? We went somewhere else. They lost our business.

Which leads me to our next point…

More Customers

More than 2.4 billion people use the internet every single day. Out of that massive number, 90% of those have either made an online purchase or contact a company in the last 12 months. You are missing out on an absolutely massive opportunity if you decide not to take some of this big piece of pie for yourself!

Educating 24 Hours A Day

Your website does not sleep, even when you do. If people have questions, want to find out more about your business and even want to buy your products, they do so 24 hours a day – 7 days a week.

Communicating With Customers

Having a website gives you the invaluable ability to update your customers on your newest offers, products, promotions, events, photos or any other content. The possibilities are endless.

Marketing Efforts

This one is really important. Your website is your main hub of your online presence. Whatever you do here (for example, have a new website promotion and have members pay to sign up on your site), can easily be shared across all of your social media platforms. This is a great thing to do because it extends your reach to your customers and brings them right back to your website, in this case, those customers sign up for said membership. It’s a win-win for you as you gain more revenue and your customers receive great content for, example, this paid membership.

Professional Email

Having an email that uses hotmail, or even in some cases gmail, is really not that professional at all. If you have your own website, it’s much more professional and easier to remember. You’re able to customize your email instead of the generic hotmail / gmail email that everyone else uses!

In conclusion, having a website is extremely valuable as it reflects positively on any business. We’re going onto 2017 – it’s time your business catches up and builds out a website!
